Pop-Up-Pug Cafe!

Pop-Up-Pug Cafe!

The Guildford Pug Society has joined forces with Esquires coffee shop for a one-off event which will see the cosy-coffee-hangout turned into a caffeine-fuelled party for Pugs and Pug lovers.

A Facebook page advertising the event has called it “the event of the century and the most important date in every Pug’s social calendar – so put on your Sunday best, stroll into town and enjoy a puppacino with lots of other Pugs.”

Not only will you be able to indulge in all the coffee and cake you possibly can but the Pugs too will get to enjoy a number of puggy snacks such as dog muffins, doggy cake and other freshly baked treats whilst they sniffle and snuffle with their fellow pugrades!

Esquires Café will be offering a free ‘puppacino’ for every pug that manages to make the outing, therefore all Pug lovers are asked to RSVP the event as soon as possible. Simply click ‘attending’ on the Facebook event so the cafe has an idea as to how many Pug lovers will be turning up.

The pop up itself is the idea of Guildford Pug Society organiser Anushka Fernando, who had the following to say on the event, “As a pug owner and huge pug fan I love reading about different pug events especially after I started the Guildford Pug Meet Up. I recently read about a pug cafe in Tokyo, and a few of my members also shared a video of it on our Facebook page. It looked like so much fun and we agreed how fantastic it would be to get together for a cuppa and some puggy playtime!

“I often visit coffee shops with my pug Bertie – Guildford is known for its many dog-friendly cafes, coffee shops and pubs – so I thought why not see if one of my favourite coffee shops would be interested. Luckily for me, Nicci at Esquires was really excited and happy to get involved. I’ve been coming in for coffees at Esquires since it opened, it’s a lovely place, the coffee is delicious and Bertie has always been welcomed with open arms.

“We are so excited to be collaborating with Esquires on this exciting event. The coffee shop will be dedicated to all things PUG that day and I’ve been working with Nicci to make sure it’s a really fun and memorable experience.”

Café owner Nicola Austen, manager of Esquires said, “I am so happy to get involved with this event as I am an avid dog lover. We are a new coffee shop, only open four months, and would love to let our customers know we welcome dogs in our coffee shop. Although the productivity from my staff reduces whenever a dog enters the shop, it is worth it as the visit puts smiles on their faces for the rest of the day.

“Anushka and her pug Bertie have been coming to our shop since we opened and we are so excited to meet and cater for your pug friends.”

Details of the event can be found here on the Facebook page and here on their website.

Remember: Sunday 21st May 10am-4pm @ Esquires Coffee, 278 High Street, Guildford, GU1 3JL
