Events: Dog Friendly Events in the UK - August 2016

Enjoy the rest of the summer by attending some of the many dog-friendly events across the country. Here’s a list of some of the great events taking place this August...

4th – 7th August 2016 – Countryfile Live

The first ever Countryfile Live brings the best of the Great British countryside to the stunning stately home and grounds of Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire. Visitors can bring their four-legged friends and enjoy the many independent shops or even take part in a Dog & Duck show. For humans there’s plenty to see and do including an ice cream parlour, river sports, vintage funfair, Tug-of-War, Adam's Farm, 500 exhibitors and get to meet the presenters of the most popular programme on British television.

6th – 7th August 2016 – Paws at the castle

Paws at the Castle at Hever Castle in Kent offers informative displays, entertainment and a fun dog show. The popular huskies from the Siberian Husky Welfare Association will be in attendance throughout the weekend.

13th August 2016 – ‘Cool to be kind’ Dogs Trust family event

Dogs Trust will be hosting a family event at Hampstead Heath on 13 August to promote their ‘Cool to be kind’ message about the importance of keeping your dog cool in the summer heat, while enjoying a fun filled day. The event will include a Dogs Trust branded ice cream van giving away free ice cream and iced treats for dogs supplied by Frozzys, free face painting, free balloon animals, free microchipping and activities and workshops for children.

Event takes place at Hampstead Heath, Parliament Hill Bandstand, Nearest entrance off Highgate Road, NW5 1QR, between 11am and 4pm.

14th August 2016 – Greyhound Walks Charity Show

The show, sponsored by Spring Lodge Veterinary Group, opens at 10 am. There is no charge for entry but there is a £5 charge for all day parking. There will be lots of stalls selling canine goodies, craft stalls, family fun and games, plus delicious food. There are two Greyhound, Lurcher and other Sighthound Judging Rings which run all day and judging in the Mixed Breed Show Ring starts at 12 noon for all other breeds.

20th August 2016 – Hampshire Pet Fair 2016

A great day out for all ages and dogs are welcome indoors and outdoors. Exotic displays, birds of prey, dog Show, reptiles, miniature farm and plenty of shopping. Free goodie bags and prize draw.

26th August 2016 – Shakes-paws Picnic

To celebrate National Dog Day, Anne Hathaway's Cottage & Gardens will be hosting a dog-friendly Shakes-paws Picnic. Visitors encouraged to bring their dogs along for a day of family fun, treats and walkies. The Guide Dogs team will be there with demonstrations. Plus there will be a dog selfie station and mini dog show. Visitors who bring their dog on the day will receive a 20% discount on entry.

Event takes place between 10am-4pm at Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, Cottage Lane, Shottery, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, CV37 9HH. For more information visit the website.

27-28 August 2016 – Scottish Kennel Club Championship Dog Show

Over 4,000 dogs will take part in the show, including an opportunity to see rare native Scottish breeds, such as the Deerhound, Skye Terrier, Gordon Setter and Dandie Dinmont Terrier. Common Scottish breeds such as the West Highland White Terrier, Golden Retriever, Rough Collie and Shetland Sheepdog, will also be present. There will also be activities for visitors to get involved in with their own dogs.
