Brits Combat Social Burnout with 'Paw-fect' Companions
A recent survey by Ring has highlighted that by August, over a third of Brits experience social burnout, with 38% more likely to decline social invitations. This summer, with back-to-back sporting events, has seen Brits' social calendars busier than ever. The survey revealed that 41% of Brits received more social invitations than usual this summer.
Ring's research found that the average Briton receives invitations to over four major social events during the summer, which is twice as many as they would prefer to attend. Feeling obliged to attend these events, many Brits face social burnout by the season's end. This is particularly evident in August, when more than a third are likely to say no to social plans.
The survey found that after the busy months of June and July, Brits are most likely to cancel on tennis screenings (43%) and football watch-parties (29%). Regular summer activities such as weddings of acquaintances (26%), picnics (16%), and BBQs (16%) are also high on the list of events they prefer to avoid. Nearly half (48%) of dog owners expressed a preference for spending a night in with their dogs over attending social events.
The Role of Dogs in Reducing Social Burnout
Further research by Ring found that 41% of dog owners have cut short a night out to return to their pets, a third (33%) have fabricated excuses to get back to their dogs, and 23% have even cancelled plans altogether. Despite the necessity of occasionally leaving pets at home, many owners find comfort in monitoring their dogs from afar.
The survey revealed that 73% of dog owners want to keep an eye on their pets when they are out. Currently, 27% of pet parents use devices like the Ring Indoor Camera to supervise their dogs. Ring’s latest product, the Pan-Tilt Indoor Camera, enhances this capability. This camera features motorised 360° horizontal panning and 169° vertical tilting, allowing dog owners to monitor their pets from multiple angles.
Ring's innovative technology provides a practical solution for pet owners who need to leave their dogs at home, offering peace of mind and reducing the stress associated with social obligations.
