Dog-friendly pancake recipe you can make for 40p with 3 ingredients
With pancake day just around the corner, Google searches for ‘dog pancakes’ are up 91% over the past quarter, as more people look for recipes they can make for their pups this Shrove Tuesday. The experts at YuMOVE have put together a dog-friendly pancake recipe so your dogs don’t have to miss out on getting involved in the family fun...
Easy 3-step ingredient Dog-friendly pancake recipe
Ingredients:
- 50g plain flour - 2p
- 100ml water
- 1 egg - 28p
- A small amount of olive oil - 10p
- Mixing bowl and spoon
- Frying pan
- Ladle
Method:
- Mix the flour, egg and water in a bowl
- Add a small amount of olive oil to your pan and bring to a medium heat
- Use the ladle to scoop a portion of the batter into the pan
- Cook for 30 to 40 seconds – when the edges start to colour, now’s the time to flip!
- Repeat on the other side
- Add your toppings!
If your dog is allergic to gluten or wheat, switch the flour to a dog safe gluten-free variety. That way, they don’t have to miss out on the fun. You can also use pretty much the same ingredients to make human pancakes, too, just switch the water up for milk in yours. This way, you save time and money.
Don’t forget your toppings:
You can add toppings to your doggy pancakes. Just make sure you don’t go overboard. Some toppings that are dog-friendly include:
- A small amount of peanut butter (make sure it’s Xylitol-free, as Xylitol can be toxic to dogs. Peanut butter with just a single ingredient – peanuts! – is best.)
- Banana
- Apple
- Chopped up veggies
- Doggie biscuits
